BRISA OREGEL:
My name is Brisa.
MARTIN PADILLA
And my name is Martin.
OREGEL:
And we’re going to be discussing what Project 2025 is while baking a Thanksgiving dessert: pumpkin roll.
[Music]
OREGEL:
Okay move on to the ingredients for the desert.
Okay so first we will need some flour, all purpose flour.
PADILLA:
Then we’ll need some powdered sugar.
OREGEL:
Ok then we will also need some pure cane sugar.
We’ll also need some baking powder.
PADILLA:
We’ll need some ground cinnamon and some ground ginger.
OREGEL:
We’ll also need some ground nutmeg and some pumpkin puree.
We’ll also need some vanilla extract.
PADILLA:
We will also need some cream cheese and some butter.
OREGEL:
And we’ll also need some eggs, three eggs.
So those are the ingredients that we’ll need.
First you have to have your bowl and a whisk and then we’re going to do the three eggs.
PADILLA:
And then one cup of sugar.
OREGEL:
So then we’re gonna need two-thirds of the pumpkin puree; I don’t like this smell.
And now we use three-fourths of all purpose flour, is that all?
PADILLA
Yes.
OREGEL:
It smells very delicious.
And one teaspoon of baking powder.
One teaspoon of ground cinnamon, one-fourth of nutmeg and ground ginger.
So now we mix all of them together.
Make sure to preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
I think the major question that we all have is what really is Project 2025?
So, Project 2025 is a major effort bringing together over 100 conservative groups to remove the “Deep State” and give the government back to the people and the presidential transition project organized by the Heritage Foundation.
The next question that I will be addressing is, when will Project 2025 begin?
So Project 2025 will commence on January 20, 2025 once president Donald Trump enters office.
PADILLA:
Another question people might have is, what does Project 2025 include?
OREGEL:
So the project’s four pillars aim to build a strong foundation for a conservative admission, this includes the policy agenda which is developing clear priorities and actionable goals.
PADILLA:
Key personnel which are identifying and recruiting individuals with the right expertise and values.
OREGEL:
Staff training which is preparing the team with essential skills and knowledge.
PADILLA:
And the 180-day playbook is creating a step-by-step guide for the first 6 months in office to ensure smooth implementation.
OREGEL:
We’re going to try the batter now because it kinda looks tempting.
[ASMR]
Wait, that does taste good.
That tastes very delicious; it tastes like pumpkin pie.
PADILLA:
So now we are going to lay it out in the tray.
We are going to line our tray with parchment paper and the tray is 15 by 10.
One main issue that people might have with Project 2025 is abortions.
OREGEL:
We’re going to talk about abortions because what we’ve noticed is a lot of people are stressing about them saying that we’re going backwards with women’s rights and how they’re not going to have their freedom any more, so we’re going to be addressing what it is really going to be.
PADILLA:
The proposal suggests removing the abortion pill from the market and enforcing existing laws which are rarely applied, to block the drug from being sent through mail.
OREGEL:
The drug is used in almost two-thirds of abortions in the U.S and prohibits Planned Parenthood from receiving any medical funding.
PADILLA:
The document proposed new data collection on abortion and recommends that the Department of Health and Human Services adopt a biblically-based social science and reinforce the definition of marriage and family.
OREGEL:
A little hack if you don’t want it to be like loud on the counter you could put a kitchen towel and so when you move it like that, it doesn’t create a loud noise.
And now it is ready to go into the oven.
One thing that I think a lot of people could agree on that the Latino community is worried about the mass immigration that is being addressed in Project 2025.
PADILLA:
Something that is actually shocking is that 62% of Latinos did vote for Trump.
OREGEL:
In Project 2025 one thing that they are considering is increasing the funding for the construction of the wall of the U.S. Mexican border.
PADILLA:
The proposal calls for eliminating the Department of Homeland Security and combining it with other immigration enforcement units from different agencies, creating a larger and more powerful border policing operation. Other proposals include eliminating the visa categories for crime and human trafficking victims, raising fees for immigrants and allowing priority applications for migrants who pay a premium.
OREGEL:
Moving on to climate and economy.
PADILLA:
Carbon reduction goals would be replaced with initiatives focused on increasing energy production and strengthening energy security.
So talking about the pros of the climate and economy of Project 2025.
One of the pros is energy security.
Prioritizing energy production could reduce reliance on foreign energy sources improving national security and stability.
Another pro could be economic growth.
PADILLA:
Expanding energy production could create jobs, lower energy costs, and stimulate economic growth.
OREGEL:
One last pro is addressing immediate needs.
PADILLA:
Countries facing energy shortages or high prices, boosting production can stabilize supply and protect consumers from rising costs.
OREGEL:
Moving onto the cons, is the climate change impact shifting focus from carbon reduction goals to energy production could lead to more fossil fuel extraction and higher emissions, exacerbating climate change.
PADILLA:
Another con is long-term environmental consequences; relying on non-renewable energy sources like oil, gas and coal could delay the transition to cleaner energy, undermining long-term sustainability.
OREGEL: Lastly, one of the cons is the national commitments for international commitment. Countries bound by climate agreements will have reduced carbon reduction efforts and it will strain diplomatic relations and hinder global climate processes.
I’m going to check on the cake.
PADILLA:
It’s a–oh my God.
OREGEL:
It’s a cake though.
PADILLA:
It’s a roll.
OREGEL:
Okay guys, we’re going to move it and we’re going to have to flip it over and then we’re going to have to like, roll it in the towel and like this could go so terribly wrong because if it breaks it ain’t going to be roll no more. We’re going to have to like improvise or something. So before we do anything, we have to dust it with powdered sugar. There’s also no exact measurements of how much you need; we’re just going to do it until it covers up the cake. So now we’re just dusting it.
Guys we put way too much; can I show them?So it should be around that much.
PADILLA:
Should it really?
OREGEL:
No–no, it should just be covered lightly; YAAAA
So now we’re going to place the kitchen towel on top of the cake and I’m going to use one of these to help flip it over.
Woahh guys, I felt it.
Now we’re going to remove the parchment paper carefully.
O–I almost ripped the entire thing off.
OOOOO– it smells so good.
Okay so now we have to roll it and this part I’m lowkey kind of scared because if we do it wrong it’s going to break.
You want to do it or do you want me to do it?
It should be this side because you’re supposed to fold it like this, look.
PADILLA:
I guess she’s doing it now.
OREGEL:
So you have to do this and grab it like right here and roll it like this–oh shoot.
You keep rolling it like this. I feel like Gordan Ramsay. Okay so now we’re going to let it cool and I’m just going to put it in the fridge because we’re supposed to let it cool for an hour, but–.
PADILLA:
I’m trying to get home already.
OREGEL:
We’re trying to go home and eat this.
So we’re going to put this in the fridge and we’ll like it cool for like 10 minutes and we’ll let you guys know how it goes, but this is how it should look like.
PADILLA:
So for the icing we will now be using 8 ounces of cream cheese, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 cup of powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
OREGEL:
Also the cream cheese should be room temperature, as well as the butter. I would let it sit out for at least an hour at a normal room temperature.
So another thing about Project 2025 is the tech and education. In my opinion, honestly before I did the research, I’ve never really like seen the topics tech and education come up in Project 2025, but once you do some research you actually can see how many impacts it will have on our future. Project 2025 will ban pornography and shut down technology and telecom companies that provide any access to it. They will also be eliminating a range of terms from all the laws and fragile relegations including sexual orientation, gender equality, abortion, and reproductive rights. The proposal also aims to end diversity, equity and inclusion programs in schools and government departments as part of the broader effort to challenge what it describes as “progressive” ideology. Ideology refers to the system of ideas, beliefs, or values that forms a bias of particular, political, economical, and social theory or movement.
Moving on to Project 2025 and second, education, it will be abolishing the Department of Education with the goal of increasing school choice and giving parents more control over education.
Okay so once the cream cheese and the butter is all mixed up and it’s like a fluffy paste we’re going to add one cup of powdered sugar. So now we’re going to add vanilla extract; it’s about a teaspoon or a dash. Right now, it’s more like a smooth paste rather than fluffy once you add the powdered sugar. So now Martin is going to spread the filling on the cake. Okay so now we have it all spread out evenly, so we’re going to roll it. We’re going to taste it now and we’re going to give you guys an honest review. Overall making it wasn’t difficult, I think the difficulty level was like–
PADILLA:
Brisa.
OREGEL:
I would say it was like a three. Okay let’s get a piece; I’m kind of nervous.
I don’t think it’s bad lowkey, I think we should’ve warmed it up.
PADILLA:
It’s not bad.
OREGEL:
I hope you guys enjoyed watching our video about Project 2025 and our baking times.
PADILLA:
Make sure you guys check out thespellbinder.com.
OREGEL:
And there will be websites; if you want more information about Project 2025.
PADILLA:
