You’re lying on the beach on a hot summer day with a cold drink. But before you know it, those fun, summer days turn into lazy days filled with boredom. The thought of an exciting summer fades slowly, leaving you wondering how to make the most of your summer before it’s over.
Summer break gives us plenty of time to explore new hobbies. Trying out new hobbies can be a fun way to spend your time, and it can also be an opportunity to meet people who enjoy the same things as you.
With so much free time during summer vacation, there are plenty of activities to try. You could try out new cooking recipes, go hiking or explore different sports.
Mia Boyzo, a freshman from Godinez Fundamental High School, shares her summer plans, including trying new hobbies.
“My summer break plans include trying out a new hobby, like volleyball, and spending more time outdoors at the beach or going for daily walks,” Boyzo said.
With her inspiration to try out new hobbies, she also wants to visit new places. Embracing the endless possibilities during the summer, you too could explore new spots and discover hidden treasures. Boyzo shares that she’d love to visit places with beachy vibes, like a cafe or the beach, to enjoy a fun day with her friends.
“I’ve wanted to go somewhere tropical with my friends, maybe spend the day at a beachside cafe or just relax by the ocean,” Boyzo said.
While students often seek new hobbies and outdoor activities, they sometimes run into the challenge of finding activities to do. This could easily turn into a summer spent at home all day with nothing to do.
Freshman Roselyn Alas shares how to avoid wasting too much time during the summer.
“You should probably plan out activities each day that you would want to complete because then if not by the end of summer you just kind of feel like you wasted your summer,” Alas said.
This is a good way of making sure your days are filled with productive activities to keep you entertained and away from a summer spent in bed. Alas also suggested spending time doing low-cost activities.
“Activities that don’t cost a lot of money would be like going to the park or going to the beach, or you can go to the mall with your friends and just window shop,” Alas said.
As summer approaches, take inspiration from Mia and Roselyn’s plans for your summer. Plan activities ahead of time, try out new hobbies, and make sure this summer is one to remember.
