The 2025-2026 ASB elections are here for Middle College High School! We have many great candidates running for different positions but among those are two MCHS juniors who are determined to become MCHS’ ASB vice president.
Adilene (Adi) Aldape and Belen Estrada are the candidates for this year’s ASB elections. They each share their thoughts and ideas.
Inspiration and Dedication
Spellbinder Adviser’s Disclaimer: Each candidate shared plans they have if elected. However, these plans have not been vetted or approved by the school administration.
Adi Aldape
Having the honor of being vice president at Heninger in her 8th grade year, Aldape was inspired to use this experience to create change at MCHS. She shares more on this inspiration.
“What inspired me to run for ASB vice president was already having that prior experience of being in a leadership position and knowing that I can make a difference when it comes to the students, like involving them and truly representing them,” Aldape said.
Aldape’s established foundation on being a leader is rooted in her engagement in ASB since she was in middle school. Her love for community engagement has led to new leadership positions that she shares.
“I was president of my own club, Pre-Med, which then merged with HCC, which I’m now president of. In addition to that, I am the junior class president, so I also have that experience of representing and being able to serve the junior class,” Aldape said.
Aldape has plans for encouraging clubs working with ASB.
“When it comes to clubs, I want to have a spotlight for them or like at a certain time, moment in time where they can be promoted significantly so that everyone in the school can know like, ‘Hey, there’s this club here. This is what we’re about.’ When they have fundraisers, we can have ASB members, like go around promoting them with a megaphone or having little flyers because I know clubs have flyers. It would be pretty much anything that can help them gain recognition,” Aldape said.
Aldape wants to create a strong connection between ASB and students to allow clear communication. She plans to physically go around and ask students what they want to see for future events of ASB. Aldape will use this along with polls and forums to receive student input for what ASB should do.
Aldape wants to create a tight-knit community between clubs and student-held organizations through different discussions. She shares more on this idea.
“I was thinking of having meetings, of course, that can bring everyone together, to help better represent them and help understand what they want to see to help promote their club or what they want to see change in the school,” Aldape said.
Aldape demonstrates her determination working alongside the ASB president.
“As vice president, I plan to support the soon-to-be president by really working with them and understanding where they’re coming from and what kind of ideas they have. I want to be able to work with them and build this community to a greater one and have built up the spirit that we need and create the school environment that we all deserve,” Aldape said.
As we near the end of campaigning week, Aldape shares her final remarks.
“I want you guys to know that I’m here for you and that I’m going to be the bridge between the student body and ASB.”
Belen Estrada
Having prior experience working with campaigns, Estrada felt inspired to pursue a position of vice president. She describes the origin of this goal.
“Last year I helped our current president, Ari Molina prepare for her campaign, that was in matters of ideas, editing videos, anything like that,” Estrada said. “That really inspired me because I saw everything she did first-hand and I was like I also have ideas that I want to help incorporate this year in ASB which inspired me to run.”
Estrada feels confident in her leadership to take on the important role. Her leadership roles have given her the skills she hopes to use. Estrada shares some of these involvements.
“This year I was working with Wish Come True. They taught me leadership skills, how to assess any miscommunications and all that. As a result of my involvement, I’m going to be president of the club next school year. Some leadership experience I have outside of school is I volunteer at communities such as my own church and then schools by fundraising for building funds or for the students,” Estrada said.
Estrada has a focus on fundraising, taking into account the importance of what activities students want to see and participate in. To ensure this happens, she plans to create a Google form for students to have unlimited access to. The form will allow the students to share their ideas and give input on events. This tool will allow Estrada to establish communication as vice president with students.
“So ICC meetings are being held by ASB. This is a moment where students with clubs can incorporate themselves more into ASB events. This will also help avoid any miscommunication or any questions that the students may have,” Estrada said.
Estrada shares how she plans to work with the ASB president.
“Honestly, I feel like during ASB, I built a good relationship with the candidates. And I feel like, anyone who is chosen, I’ll have a good bond. I have that tendency of working together with people and building upon ideas which I hope to do with the president,” Estrada said.
As campaigns come to an end, Estrada shares her unique stance as a candidate for ASB vice president.
“I think my biggest offer is honesty and being realistic. I know ASB this year had so many great ideas, but there’s only so many things that we can do as the school student body. I will be realistic to the ideas the students come up to me with. I won’t blatantly tell you, yes, that definitely can happen. But I will say that. we will try our best, because there’s no definite answer of yes or no on the spot,” Estrada said.
Estrada goes on to share a few last words.
“Please consider everything I’ve said. It’s up to you who you think is the best choice. The other candidate is also a great, great, great person, but honestly, it’s up to you with your honesty and opinions. Thank you,” Estrada said
