Where to find Neverland
Imagine a world full of wonder and awe. A world where starstuff, a substance so powerful that it must never fall into the wrong hands, is the most searched for object. It’s up to four kids to protect the remaining starstuff from getting into the hands of the pirate crew of Black Stache, Captain Hook before he lost his hand.
As senior and actor Jesus Hernandez states, ”It’s been pretty fun, but at some times it’s been very slow. Sometimes, we’ve had to memorize our lines outside of class. Just today we went through nine scenes. It’s a fun process, when people mess up. It’s fun.”
Furthermore Hernandez explains, “It’s a pretty fun script. There’s a lot of work being put into it, from the actors on stage to the people behind the stage. Some people have a passion for this, and as students we should support each other.”
For two months now, the Advanced Drama class has been preparing and memorizing their lines to perform the play of “Peter and The Starcatcher.” The Advanced Drama class has rehearsed on weekends and after school to ensure the play goes well. The sewing circle is collaborating with Advanced Drama to create all of the costumes for the play.
As junior and actor Tais Avila-Guzman explains, “The story revolves around a young orphan who just wants to find a home. He has the persona of someone who is pessimistic and has lost all hope, yet deep down he just wants a home where he could be safe and loved.”
The tickets for “Peter and The Starcatcher” will be on pre-sale for $5 dollars, starting November 20, and $7 dollars at the door. It will be available to watch November 29 and December 1 in Mrs.Silverstein’s room (VL-303) after school. The Advanced Drama class looks forward to seeing you there.
