As the 2025 school year winds down, freshmen at Middle College High School reflect over memorable moments and lessons as well as feelings about this progression.
This is a very important moment for students; it marks not only the end of a school year but the start of a new experience. These students will use what they learned previously to succeed in the coming semester, facing their own set of new challenges.
One student, freshman Yandel Ramirez, has an uneasy feeling as this semester wraps up because of grades.
“Not too excited, since my grades aren’t really the highest and I want to raise them up before the semester ends,” Ramirez said.
Many students feel the same way, but school isn’t only about grades. It’s also about memories: good or bad.
“But that one time we were at the assembly, and I felt my skin peeling off because of the sun,” Ramirez said.
Along with each memory, there is a lesson to be discovered. In this particular assembly, Ramirez learned something very important.
“If someone’s not doing so great in class, be respectful to them because not everyone has the talents or is gifted to have such high grades,” Ramirez said.
Another student shared different feelings. Freshman Erika Perez is more thrilled about the year coming to a close.
“I’m so excited. I want it to end like right now,” Perez said.
This student also had a story to share.
“The job fair at SAC…I got to learn about a lot of opportunities. Even though I’m not old enough, it was still fun,” Perez said.
These experiences helped students like Perez learn about opportunities that will be used in real world situations. More importantly is the lesson that helped Perez through the school year.
“Have determination,” Perez said.
She believes that having determination will help every student achieve their goals and become successful in life.
As the end of the 2025 school year comes just around the corner, students like Ramirez and Perez will use what they learned in order to become better students. Whether facing hot temperatures or unsure grades, students will be ready to improve and take on new challenges with the coming year.
