Middle College High School has had incredible assemblies in the past years, but this year, they are amping things up. With more student involvement and creative twists, the assemblies feel more unique than ever. This year, you can truly see the change in the school’s energy, school spirit, and overall atmosphere.
The ASB team put an incredible amount of effort into this year’s assembly and truly went above and beyond to bring hype to our school. They introduced fresh ideas to make students feel more active instead of just feeling like you’re watching from the sidelines, from exciting games to a brand-new way of chanting for each grade. This assembly created a spirit-filled experience that everyone can be a part of.
Our school is mainly education-based based so many incoming students don’t expect to see much school spirit at MCHS. In the past assemblies, there were moments where everyone would stay quiet and not participate. Although we have a small number of students, many are filled with spirit!
Sophomore Melany Ramos shares her previous observations and experiences with assemblies as an ASB member.
“Freshmen participation stems from the fact that most of them don’t expect our school to have spirit, so they just go along and don’t participate,” Ramos said.
ASB felt a strong sense of accomplishment with the first assembly of the year. All the new creative ideas had everyone feeling the spirit. ASB’s efforts this year were truly outstanding, and it is noticeable that they gave it their all, showcasing how capable they truly are.
Sophomore Emily Flores, another ASB member, shared her opinion on the performance of the ASB team this year.
“I think ASB definitely met our goals. We wanted to bring energy, school spirit, and create a fun environment where people could feel connected, and I think we accomplished that,” Flores said.
ASB did not expect this year to start as incredibly as it did. The energy and spirit each grade put into this assembly were truly magical. Specifically, the freshmen class that came into this school was already hyped and with a strong sense of school spirit.
ASB president Victor Higareda reflects on past assemblies and shares how this year’s events stand out in comparison.
“What surprised me most was the freshmen. In past years, they’re usually the quietest class, but this time they brought the most energy. Their chants were super loud and really well executed. Plus, they had great participation during the spirit week, which added so much hype to the assembly,” Higareda said.
This year, ASB went above and beyond, putting tremendous effort into creating an assembly that is engaging and energizing for the students. They made the event into a spirit-filled experience, making sure everyone was having fun. This assembly showcased how worthy the ASB team is, and hopefully, there is more to come!
