Michigan State University (MSU), one of the most prestigious universities in the country, has now been dragged into a sex scandal due to the men’s basketball team. This ongoing saga of sex scandals has long been linked to Michigan State alumni, head officials, and most notably Larry Nassar, a former MSU athletic physician. After three years of MSU officials, fighting multiple cases inorder hide the names of former alumni and officials who might have been involved in multiple sex scandals.

MSU has never properly dealt with any of the accusations for sexual abuse that involves any Spartan athletes. They were known to handle every accusation internally within the athletic department without involving the police. This problem stems back to 1998 when the first student-athlete spoke out against Larry Nassar to the coaches and other trainers, but nothing was ever done about it, the same situation occurred again in 2000. However, in 2014 MSU cleared Larry Nassar of any wrongdoing since no official at the school believed in any of the accusations.

Even with all of these allegations surrounding the school and their sketchy athletic department, the Men’s Basketball team are still ranked as the 4th best school in the nation and are favorites to win the National Championships. The fact that the school has remained competitive through all this drama has angered many people because they believe that they should have been punished more heavily by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

The NCAA began its formal investigation against Larry Nassar and MSU on Wednesday, Jan. 24, when they sent the school a letter of inquiry. It has been 20 years since the first allegations of sexual assaults were made against Larry Nassar and the MSU staff, which has left many people baffled and questioning if the NCAA even care about their student athletes. Up to this point, MSU hasn’t sent in any information of the 150 cases against the school or Larry Nassar.
