ELIZABETH COYAZO: Hey Wizards, I’m your narrator freshman Elizabeth and in today’s podcast we’ll be discussing what makes a game fun with our special guests freshmen Tabata, Nathan A, and Donovan. Let’s get right into it!
COYAZO: Introduce yourself.
TABATA CABRERA: Um, I’m Tabata Cabrera, a freshman at MCHS.
NATHAN AMAYA: I’m Nathan Amaya, a freshman at MCHS.
DONAVAN BOYD: I’m Donovan Boyd, a freshman at MCHS.
COYAZO: Okay, cool, so what video games do you guys play?
CABRERA: I hear you like to play “Geometry Dash” a lot.
BOYD: Oh, yeah, I love “Geometry.”
AMAYA: Especially in AVID.
BOYD: Oh, yeah, always.
CABRERA: All the time.
AMAYA: Even in class.
CABRERA: I enjoy playing “Roblox.”
AMAYA: Yeah, “Roblox” is pretty fun, and “Fortnite” and “Minecraft,”but “Roblox,” um I love “Roblox.”
BOYD: Oh, yeah. “Roblox” is really good.
CABRERA: Yeah, because of the variety of games they have, yeah you play with whoever you want whenever.
AMAYA: And like the piracy and stuff like that. It’s pretty fun.
BOYD: And the variety varies, yeah a lot.
CABRERA: OMG from “Natural Disaster Survival.”
AMAYA: To “Escape Ice Spice Obby.”
BOYD: To “Flee The Facility.”
CABRERA: To “Murder Mystery.”
AMAYA: “Big Paintball.”
CABRERA and BOYD: To “Arsenal.”
BOYD: Whoa, jinx!
CABRERA: Ah shucks.
COYAZO: What genres do you guys enjoy most?
CABRERA: What do you think, Donavan?
BOYD: Mainly like the rhythm genre.
CABRERA: I usually when it comes to like playing with friends. I enjoy like horror games or Obbys especially, because it really involves all of us with helping each other out and stuff.
AMAYA: I like, I really like first person shooting games or like the exploration games, you know.
BOYD: Yeah, those are cool.
AMAYA: Yeah, they are, I know they are.
COYAZO: Why do you guys enjoy those ones?
AMAYA: They’re just fun.
BOYD: They’re fun.
CABRERA: Yeah, I mean I enjoy hey, spending time with my friends, and if I can do that on Roblox, that’d be even better.
AMAYA: Just saying– I have 200 plus friends on “Roblox.”
BOYD: Me too.
COYAZO: Do you think graphics make a game better?
BOYD: No.
CABRERA: The graphics honestly, I feel like there’s some game that the worst the graphics it like makes the experience better.
AMAYA: Yeah, like it makes it funnier, like really bad graphics makes things funnier.
CABRERA: And like really gets everyone going.
AMAYA: Yeah, basically, but sometimes bad graphics makes me mad.
CABRERA: Like if it comes to horror games, I feel like the worse the graphics, the worse the you find the game, but the better the graphics the scarier it is, and it depends what you’re in search for.
CABRERA: What do you think Donovan?
AMAYA: Yeah.
BOYD: Yeah. I mean I’m always used to bad graphics because I’m used to having bad, poor hardware and requiring bad graphics to actually be able to run the game.
COYAZO: Do you guys prefer to play multiplayer or single player games?
AMAYA: What do you think Donovan?
BOYD: Yeah, I play a lot of multiplayer games! Pretty fun.
CABRERA: What do you think Nathan?
AMAYA: Oh, I I play like, I feel like multiplayer’s better sometimes, but sometimes single player is better because like multiplayer is really fun if you especially have friends, but if you’re by yourself, it’s kind of sad seeing other people talk to their friends, and you’re kind of just there lonely. But yeah, so that’s why they both have their pros and cons.
CABRERA: Yeah, I agree like if it comes to any game like “Fortnite.” I feel like the experience with like friends. It’s like really like it’s like a nice experience. But if it’s a game with like strategy and really like time-consuming, it’s more like on your own would be better.
AMAYA: Also, in games like “Fortnite,” you don’t always have to like blame yourself. Instead, you can blame your friends for being bad at the game for losing so which is why I multiplayer sometimes for that.
CABRERA: Valid point.
AMAYA: Yeah, I know.
COYAZO: What games do guys think are overrated?
ALL: Oh.
AMAYA: “Geometry Dash.”
COYAZO: Why?
AMAYA: It’s just not fun.
CABRERA: What do you have to say about that Donovan? I really want to hear your perspective on that.
BOYD: I think “FIFA” is pretty overrated.
AMAYA: Yeah. Yeah “FIFA” is pretty or any sports game is just overrated.
BOYD: Just go, just go outside!
AMAYA: Yeah, just go outside!
COYAZO: What about you Tabata?
CABRERA: Um, overrated game I feel like, honestly, like I’m really set on “Adopt Me” in “Roblox” because honestly ever since pets were added the whole point of it being titled “Adopt Me” was just it makes the more like it like the creators really made an investment, but the like memories and stuff. It’s like all gone I guess.
AMAYA: And it causes gambling issues for kids.
CABRERA: Yeah, especially since a lot of young kids are playing “Roblox.” Kids spend all those robux n those eggs. Takes too much.
COYAZO: What games do you guys think are underrated?
AMAYA: What do you think Donovan?
BOYD: Personally, I don’t really have a pick for underrated games.
CABRERA: I think yeah, I think everyone. It’s not really something you can agree on collectively because everyone has own their type of games they like to play whether it’s like sports or strategy games, first person shooting etc.
AMAYA: Yeah, I feel like some games are overrated because the creators put more time and effort into it, but sometimes just not a good game even if the graphics do look good.
COYAZO: What do you guys think makes looking enjoyable? Like what makes it fun?
BOYD: I mean probably like how long a game lasts, and if you actually enjoy the game for the amount of time that it lasts. Uh, you Nathan?
AMAYA: Yeah for me uh to make a game enjoyable there has to be a big objective. So something you have to work for and also like funny characters, you know like character models just looking at them can make something fun.
CABRERA: I usually find it fun when it’s like there’s more like I guess detail into every single character because then it like really like, makes you feel like there’s an objective you have to find out and it’s like it really interests me more if I’m playing the game, but also yeah, I agree with you about the characters being funny and stuff. Yeah, because that really um wants you to continue playing.
COYAZO: Thank you, guys, for tuning in today’s podcast. Shout out to our co-narrators freshman Karol and Jocelyn stay tuned for upcoming episodes. See yah.
