People go to all sorts of fun places during the summer; they go to the beach, to the park, to go get ice cream, travel, visit zoos and attend concerts. The differences between summer hangouts and other season hangouts are significant.
As summer approaches, students change their hangouts. Going to an indoor mall isn’t the greatest idea on a warm spring day; water balloon fights seem much more ideal. During warm weather students like to be free and feel the warmth of the sun.
Sophomore Joshua Gomez is focusing on his favorite sport this summer.
“This summer I’m going to focus on soccer and practicing with friends, I tend to enjoy soccer more with friends,” Gomez said.
Other students plan on traveling. Experiencing new parts of the world is very common during the summer. According to the Summer Travel Survey 2024,about 40% of people are planning to travel during this summer at least once.
Senior Josiah Valdivia is planning to travel to Europe with his sibling.
“I’m planning to travel to Europe with my sister, as a soccer trip with her team,” Valdivia said.
As students get older, responsibilities come to them. This results in many of them working in their free time. Many juniors and seniors in high school take summer as the opportunity to make money.
Junior Lupita Cortez plans to start working this summer along with also having fun.
“I will start working at an orthopedic clinic and of course also hang out with friends,” Cortez said.
The end results were the majority of students spending time with friends and family. Major attractions within students were the beach, park and fair. Some responses that stood out were traveling, concerts and hikes.
