The Spider-Man: No Way Home first trailer is here, and the Marvel cinematic universe is never going to be the same.

Following the trailer being prematurely leaked online, Sony released the first trailer after their CinemaCon event on August 23, 2021, and it was definitely worth the wait. Marvel fans have been speculating for months that cameos from beloved classic Spider-Man characters will be seen in this new movie.

Classic Spider-Man fan, senior Jamie Sanchez said, “I grew up watching the Spider-Man movies because they are really cool, especially Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man. I am so excited to see Doc Ock come back since he is one of my favorite villains.”

Following the conclusion of “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” Peter Parker is struggling to live in a world where everyone knows who he really is. When it appears like Peter isn’t dealing with it well, the world turns against him, which is when he enlists the help of Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange then uses his magic to make the world forget that Peter is Spider-Man, creating ramifications for the rest of the universe.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is the third MCU project featuring the multiverse after WandaVision and Loki. The multiverse has arrived in the MCU bigger and better than ever as a result of the meddling with space and time, and with it comes some legendary Spider-Man villains from previous Spider-Man films. We see familiar faces like Alfred Molina as Doc Ock as well as catch the Green Goblin’s laugh, played by Willem Dafoe. Then, if you look closely, you’ll notice a hint of Jamie Foxx’s Electro, who we originally encountered in Andrew Garfield’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Many fans have theorized that the previous spider-men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield,  will make a comeback.

“I really enjoyed the other MCU projects that involve the multiverse. “Wandavision” was so cool so I’m hoping this new movie can continue that,” said Sanchez.

Senior Jesus Garibay said, “I’m so excited to see how this movie is going to deal with the multiverse. Hopefully, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield can come back as Spider-Man. I’m really looking forward to seeing this play out.”

Others feel like the theory is a little too far-fetched.

“I don’t know if any theories will happen, but I think the one about all of the Spider-Men coming back or being in one movie won’t happen. It seems like way too much for one movie,” said senior Ali Naqvi.

Because of all the fan theories, the new Spider-Man installment has a lot to live up to.

“I think that this movie is anticipated to live up to the expectations since Marvel is good at stuff like this,” said Garibay

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is coming to the big screen on December 17, 2021.
