Thrift shops, trendy boutiques, local malls, department stores and many more. For many Middle College High School students, clothes are more than just clothes. It is their way of expressing themselves. Finding pieces for your unique style can feel never-ending. It often takes trial and error to find your favorite shop. Beyond our local malls, students at MCHS have found their own favorite spots to shop.
Instead of solely stopping by the mall to shop, MCHS students tend to look for shops that help them express themselves. From vintage thrift stores to trendy shops, there is a shop for everyone. Along with finding clothing to match your style, you also have to figure out your style.
Senior Julissa Ramos describes her style as flexible and versatile.
“I would say my style matches whatever I want to express on a certain day,” Ramos said.
Finding vintage and unique pieces can be tricky as our stores all carry the same trendy pieces.
Ramos mentioned that her favorite trick is to, “… steal a lot of my mom or grandma’s clothes. Sometimes I’ll steal from my grandpa too”.
Senior Maria Estrada expressed how she loves to shop at Free People to suit her clean girl aesthetic.
“I love going into Free People, it can be a little pricey but I always find something one of a kind there” Estrada said.
Branching out from our local malls can be intimidating but, the reality is there are lots of shops that have lots to offer.
Senior Alexandra Maciel states that one of her favorite shops is not even in a mall.
“I’ve recently loved to shop at Ross, their pieces are affordable and sometimes you’ll find a one of a kind piece” Maciel said.
For many MCHS students, fashion is an important form of self expression and confidence. While exploring these new styles and shops it opens new doors of self expression and confidence for everyone.
