This tournament decides the team’s fate by a single victory, making it so that every team has an equal opportunity to win. The only thing that matters is your grit and determination to win the game. It does not matter what your ranking was going into the tournament, all that matters is how much you want the victory. We have already seen many upsets throughout the tournament, like when a 16th seed UMBC beat Virginia University, who was a favorite to win the entire tournament. This madness is what makes millions of people tune in to watch a tournament of college basketball players.

For many senior players, this may be their last game ever playing organized basketball, which makes a loss that much more heartbreaking. On the flip side, a win is only that much more meaningful, not only for the players but for the school. Every win that the school gets bring glory and fame to the school, especially if it is a small school. That is why it is so important for small schools to upset major basketball programs.
