ALL: Hey, wizards!
MELANIE PRADO: I’m Melanie,
GISELLE RODRIGUEZ: I’m Giselle
ALEEMAH WALI: And I’m Aleemah.
PRADO: And today we’re going to be talking about controversial topics focused on Valentine’s Day.
ALL: Let’s get into it.
PRADO: I’m going to be making cake pops,
RODRIGUEZ: I’m going to be making chocolate covered strawberries,
WALLI: And I’m going to be making strawberry crunch cookies.
PRADO: To start off, I’m going to be using cake mix, two tablespoons of butter, 1/4 cup of water, one egg, frosting mix, white chocolate, sprinkles and food dye.
RODRIGUEZ: I’m going to be using a box of strawberries, meltable chocolate, and melted white chocolate chips.
WALLI: And I’ll be using strawberry cake mix, crushed up Oreos, two eggs and 1/3 cup of oil.
PRADO: The first thing we’re going to be talking about is how companies use Valentine’s Day to make bigger profit.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay guys im going to go wash the strawberries.
PRADO: As you guys know, going into any like corner store, to any, literally any store, you always see a Valentine’s Day things. It’s honestly every store that you go into they have at least one type of Valentine’s Day thing. So it’s a big way for companies just to
WALLI: Make more money.
PRADO: Everything is over priced, that’s why we have to spend more money. But moving on from that, it also makes competition between couples.
WALLI: For example, when let’s say her boyfriend, she got, she gives you her flowers and her boyfriend got her a car, she’s obviously gonna say, “Oh, you didn’t get me enough”, which creates like
PRADO: Tension and all that.
RODRIGUEZ: And jealousy.
PRADO: Inside of the couple, it can build like competition between them, maybe, like, they’ll try to one up each other, like, who gets the best gift.
WALLI: After you put your strawberry cake mix in, you’re gonna put in the two eggs and the oil, and then you’re gonna mix.
PRADO: That can also cause like a lot of arguments and all of that.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay guys I cleaned my strawberries and then I’m gonna start melting my chocolate.
PRADO: I just added the egg and the water and the butter with the cake mix, and now I’m gonna whisk it.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay I’m gonna put some water here to boil and I have the stove on high.
PRADO: Additionally, it also makes people who are single feel more lonely. Imagine being like home alone one night, and you’re seeing everyone you know post what they got for Valentine’s Day, what their significant other got for them. You know, that doesn’t make you feel any better, and it could also make you feel like you’re gonna be single forever.
RODRIGUEZ: And as everybody’s out enjoying themselves, you’re stuck in your bed.
PRADO: There’s nothing wrong with being single.
RODRIGUEZ: There’s nothing wrong with being single.
PRADO: So you can go out with your friends,
WALLI: Galentine’s Day,
PRADO: Galentine’s Day,
WALLI: Palentine’s Day,
PRADO: “Palentine’s Day”, okay. I mean, yeah, whatever floats your boat.
WALLI: After you get to this consistency, it’ll get a little tough, but just keep mixing until you know all the powder and dough is finely mixed. Now I’ll add my white chocolate chips to the dough. Just add a little bit and then as you go along, you’ll see how much you need. Do not taste the batter as you might, as you might be tempted do not.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay guys, my water’s hot enough now so I’m gonna start melting the chocolate.
PRADO: Now next we are gonna pop them in the oven.
PRADO & WALLI: At three fifty for 14 minutes.
WALLI: First, I’m gonna roll this dough out and then put it on a pan.
PRADO: Im gonna pour this into a pan.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay this is how my chocolate is looking.
PRADO: So first thing I’m gonna do is I’m gonna spread butter on this, and then after that, I’m going to pour the batter.
WALLI: Now I will use a little bit of flour to put on my hands to roll out the dough.
PRADO: So the cookies are having a little technical difficulty. But another thing about Valentine’s Day that’s common is comparing yourself to other people on social media, seeing them post with their significant other, or even if you do have a significant other, maybe you feel like the gifts that you got them you know, weren’t good enough compared to what you’re seeing on social media. So that can be another thing that makes Valentine’s Day a little less special.
WALLI: Clearly, we have not made any progress.
RODRIGUEZ: I’m gonna be adding coconut oil to my chocolate so it doesn’t get stuck to the bowl.
WALLI: And as you know, many influencers might have a significant other, and it might make you feel sad that you’re not able to partake in that trend because you don’t have a significant other, or you don’t have the money to spend on the big, extravagant things.
RODRIGUEZ: So I started dipping my strawberries in chocolate and I have more to do.
WALLI: Try your best to make them like even sizes, base them all evenly as well.
PRADO & WALLI: Now we’re gonna put them into the oven.
WALLI: At 350.
PRADO & WALLI: For 14 minutes.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay, just finished doing the strawberries and I’m gonna let them dry.
WALLI: Now I’m gonna drizzle melted white chocolate chips and crushed up Oreos. We’ll add the white chocolate chips to the cup, and then I’ll add a little bit of coconut oil so it doesn’t stick to the cup.
PRADO: So the cake is done. Now I need to add the frosting into it and then crush it up.
WALLI: I put the white chocolate in another Ziploc bag. Now I’m just gonna cut a little hole in it so I can drizzle it onto the cookies. Okay, so I cut a little, small hole and then I’m just gonna drizzle on the chocolate.
PRADO: And then I added the frosting mix that came with our kit with some butter and milk. I’m gonna mix it up and pour it into the cake.
WALLI: Some good things is, if you don’t have a significant other, you can always spend it with your friends or your family, or, you know, you could just buy flowers and a candle, whatever you want. For yourself.
PRADO: You can always buy chocolate too, if you do have a significant other, obviously spend it with them.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay I’m gonna melt some white chocolate so I can use them on my strawberries. Okay I’m also gonna add coconut oil so it doesn’t get stuck to the cup.
WALLI: So now my cookies look like this and then I just need to add my crushed Oreos on top. When you’re crushing the Oreos, you can just use a rolling pin or your bare hands.
PRADO: Now I’m going to cut the cake into four, and then I’m going to pour the frosting mix into them.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay now I’m going to add some food dye to my chocolate chips to make it a pinkish color.
WALLI: Once the consistency is like this, then you pour it on.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay, so I’m gonna pour the chocolate into a Ziploc bag so I can start drizzling on my strawberries.
WALLI: And now I’m done drizzling and adding the cookie crumbs on top, and that’s what it turns out.
PRADO: I’m done mixing the frosting mix and I’m melting some chocolate in the microwave right now so that I can roll these into balls, and then put them in the freezer to freeze. Now we’re mushing the cake so that they can form little circles, and then we’re gonna stick the cake pop sticks into them. Now we’re done with the cake pop, so we’re gonna put them in the freezer for about 10 minutes. All I’m gonna do is I’m gonna dip the cake pop into the chocolate, and I’m just gonna repeat that for all of them. So now for the last step, I’m gonna drizzle on them.
RODRIGUEZ: These are how my strawberries are looking like so far and im just gonna let them cool down.
WALLI: So this is the final product.
ALL: Thank you for watching, bye.
