KAROL CABRERA: Welcome back, Wizards, to another podcast! Today, we’ll be rating the Better Buzz coffee place, which just opened across the street from SAC’s campus.
CABRERA: We have.
JOCELYN DIAZ: The Conscious Chocolate.
GUADALUPE BRITO: Mocha de Mexico, OG açaí bowl.
CABRERA: And we also got the Better Breakfast sandwich and a Banana Pudding.
BRITO: Which one should we try first?
DIAZ: Which one do you guys want to try first?
CABRERA: I think cause it’s hot, we should try like the cold drink. So, that one right there.
BRITO: The Conscious Chocolate?
CABRERA: Yeah, the Conscious Chocolate.
DIAZ: The Conscious Chocolate, these are my reviews on the Conscious Chocolate.
BRITO: Let us know.
CABRERA: What do we think?
BRITO: What’s it taste like?
DIAZ: It tastes like milk, like straight-up milk.
BRITO: Oh my.
CABRERA: Okay.
DIAZ: Like, I only taste the milk. I can taste some nuts in it, but like it just tastes like milk to me.
BRITO: Did you mix it?
DIAZ: Yeah, I mixed it.
CABRERA: Almond milk?
CABRERA: Alright, guys, let me see what it tastes like.
CABRERA: I have to agree with Jocelyn’s statement. I honestly don’t see any flavor in the drink. I just like taste the nuts that it has. It has oat milk, no?
DIAZ: I don’t know.
CABRERA: I think it had oat milk.
BRITO: It was there?
DIAZ: It just tastes like milk, though. Let’s pull up the menu, guys.
CABRERA: Yeah.
DIAZ: Okay, so the Conscious Chocolate has almost butter, cacao nibs, banana, chocolate, whey protein.
BRITO: Guys, do we feel the protein in this?
DIAZ: I just taste milk.
CABRERA: I don’t really taste anything at all.
BRITO: I could just taste the nuts, that’s it.
CABRERA: Yeah, I don’t think I would recommend this drink to anyone.
DIAZ: What would you guys rate it out of ten?
BRITO: Out of ten? A four.
CABRERA: I’d agree, a four.
BRITO: What would you give it, Jocelyn?
DIAZ: A one.
BRITO & CABRERA: A one?
CABRERA: Wow.
DIAZ: I don’t like milk.
CABRERA: Next drink that we’ll be trying is the Banana Pudding, which is one of the popular drinks that they sell.
DIAZ: I don’t think this one’s in the menu.
BRITO: Oh yeah, it wasn’t, it was just on the.
DIAZ: I think this is a special or something, cause it was like when we went inside the cafe, they had like a, like a big poster thing outside, and then they had a lot of flyers, and it was like best drink.
CABRERA: Alright, well, this is one of their best drinks. Guadalupe, what do you think?
BRITO: It doesn’t taste bad, but you can like just mostly taste the caffeine in it.
CABRERA: It’s very sweet. If you’re not the biggest fan of bitter coffee, it’s really good. But, I don’t taste any banana in it or like any flavoring. Like, I just taste straight-up coffee.
DIAZ: I just taste coffee, but it doesn’t taste sweet.
CABRERA: Really? I thought it was sweet.
DIAZ: It isn’t. The first sip, it was like a little bitter, but then after it’s like, it’s just like normal coffee. It doesn’t taste sweet, sweet but like there is kind of.
CABRERA: I thought it was pretty sweet like compared to like your normal average coffee.
DIAZ: You’re right, I guess it would be sweet in some sense.
CABRERA: But like the banana part of it, I don’t see it.
DIAZ: I don’t taste the banana.
CABRERA: I don’t see it.
BRITO: I can taste like a very tiny, tiny bit.
CABRERA: Like, maybe it’s like the foam thing, but like, it’s really dripping there.
DIAZ: I don’t taste the banana at all.
CABRERA: Let me try this.
BRITO: What’s the thing on top? Is it?
DIAZ: I don’t know, it looks like a cookie.
CABRERA: We’ll try the cookie.
DIAZ: Is that like a banana piece or something?
CABRERA: That’s not a banana piece.
DIAZ: I was just making sure.
BRITO: Maybe, we just need to let them all marinate.
DIAZ: Maybe.
CABRERA: Oh.
DIAZ: What would you guys rate it out of ten?
CABRERA: I think I’d rate it a six; it’s not too bad, but I think it’d be better if I could taste the banana.
BRITO: Yeah, it’d give it a six too.
DIAZ: I’d rate it an eight.
CABRERA: Moving on, we’re going to try our last drink, we have here which is the.
BRITO: Mocha de Mexico.
CABRERA: This is also a hot drink, it’s not a cold drink, guys.
DIAZ: Hold on.
BRITO: We didn’t know before we bought it.
DIAZ: We thought it could’ve been like.
CABRERA: I actually thought it was going to be a cold drink.
DIAZ: I thought, I thought they would let you choose like cold or hot.
CABRERA: Oh.
DIAZ: And the dude was just like oh, hot, so like yeah.
CABRERA: Oh, okay.
BRITO: Fun fact, there’s a water, a water dispenser inside the store.
DIAZ: It looks like those, those, old like pump things.
BRITO: The wine things.
DIAZ: Yeah, that one.
BRITO: And there’s plastic cups.
CABRERA: Those are the on-tap thing, no?
DIAZ: I don’t know.
CABRERA: That’s the on-tap drinks.
DIAZ: But it looks funny, and then we had to pull it.
CABRERA: Yeah, those are like the tap drinks. It does not tell you what the Mocha de Mexico has, but it does contain nuts, so just in case you guys are allergic to that.
DIAZ: That is peanuts.
CABRERA: Or also the conscious chocolate has nuts too so. I think it kind of tastes like chocolate de abuelita. Do you see my vision, Guadalupe? No?
BRITO: No.
CABRERA: Oh, okay.
BRITO: But, maybe cause it’s too hot, I think I burned my tongue.
CABRERA: I didn’t burn my tongue.
DIAZ: You have a strong tongue, then.
CABRERA: I guess. I already burned it so many times it’s like no reaction.
DIAZ: You know, I agree with you, Karol.
CABRERA: I would rate this drink a six out of ten as well. It’s like it’s good but I prefer cold drinks over like hot drinks.
BRITO: I’d give it an eight, I think it’s pretty good, it’s just a little hot right now.
DIAZ: I’d give it like a seven, I like it. But like, not in this weather.
CABRERA: You’re right.
DIAZ: Like if it was cold, it would have been like a ten.
BRITO: Yeah.
DIAZ: But like, since it’s hot right now, no thank you guys.
CABRERA: Alright, moving on, we’re going to try the Better Breakfast Sandwich.
DIAZ: Hold on.
BRITO: What’s it have?
DIAZ: I don’t know, hold on, let me pull up the menu.
BRITO: That’s not lettuce, is it?
CABRERA: No, that’s not lettuce.
BIRTO: She told me it was lettuce.
CABRERA: That’s not lettuce.
DIAZ: What if it is?
CABRERA: It’s not lettuce.
DIAZ: The Better Breakfast contains cage-free egg, havarti.
CABRERA: Havarti, bacon, arugula, garlic aioli on a toasted brioche bun. Not lettuce.
BRITO: It was really hot when we got it.
DIAZ: Oh yeah, it was.
CABRERA: It still is kind of it’s like warm.
DIAZ: It’s warm.
CABRERA: Alright, Jocelyn, you can go ahead and give the first bite.
DIAZ: Are you sure?
CABRERA: I’m sure.
DIAZ: I can take the first bite?
BRITO: You get the privilege take a big bite. How was the first bite, Joceyln?
CABRERA: It’s arugula.
BRITO: Oh, that’s arugula?
CABRERA: Yeah, it’s not lettuce Jocelyn. Alright, next.
DIAZ: I think.
CABRERA: I think you should finish chewing.
DIAZ: It was the lettuce thing. I think it’s pretty good. I liked it. I don’t think Karol did.
BRITO: Karol loved it.
CABRERA: I did not like that, Better Breakfast Sandwich.
DIAZ: You didn’t?
CABRERA: No, I don’t know. It’s like a flavor in it that I don’t like at all.
DIAZ: Are you sure it’s not the arugula?
CABRERA: I don’t know what it is okay. I just did not like the sandwich. What do you think Guadalupe?
BRITO: I don’t know, I think it tastes plain. Like, not bad or good.
CABRERA: What would you rate it Jocelyn?
DIAZ: I rate it like an eight. I thought it was pretty good except it almost took me out. But like it’s pretty good.
CABRERA: I rate it a four out of ten, I honestly I don’t know what about it I didn’t like but there was something in it I didn’t like at all.
BRITO: Um, I’d give it like uh an eight.
DIAZ: I’ll take it from you guys, I’ll take it off your hands.
BRITO: It doesn’t taste bad, I don’t know.
DIAZ: I liked it.
CABRERA: I-I didn’t like it.
BRITO: I wish it was like more flavor.
DIAZ: Bacon.
BRITO: Now it’s my açaí.
CABRERA: The original.
BRITO: The OG Açaí.
DIAZ: Okay, the OG Açaí contains: organic açaí, vanilla almond granola, fresh berries, banana, and honey. Does it have honey?
BRITO: Um, not that I can see.
DIAZ: They forgot it.
CABRERA: Did they forget your honey?
BRITO: Maybe it’s at the bottom but I don’t see it.
DIAZ: I don’t think they put honey in it.
BRITO: For $2 you can make it a deluxe.
DIAZ: Oh yeah, two extra dollars.
CABRERA: What’s deluxe? Like a bigger size?
DIAZ: Yeah, I think so.
BRITO: I should have got the bigger size. Hold on, let me mix it first.
CABRERA: You mix it? I thought you just like eat it like that.
DIAZ: I just eat it like that.
BRITO: You can do it either way. I see no honey in mine.
DIAZ: I don’t think they put any.
CABRERA: That’s why I’m telling you I think they like they did not add honey in yours.
BRITO: Who wants to take the first bite?
DIAZ: I think you do.
BRITO: Oh.
CABRERA: Yeah I think you do. Big bite.
DIAZ: I thought it tasted pretty good, it taste like a normal açaí bowl.
BRITO: What if they don’t know how a normal one tastes like?
DIAZ: They should go buy one. I promote this.
CABRERA: I’ve never tasted an açaí bowl so like first time it’s not that bad. But, I only tasted like the banana because like that’s the only fruit I liked on it. But besides that it’s pretty good.
BRITO: I liked it, it’s pretty good.
CABRERA: What do you guys rate it?
DIAZ: I rate it a ten out of ten in this perfect weather.
CABRERA: Perfect weather?
BRITO: I agree ten out of ten super good.
CABRERA: Um, I’d give it an eight out of ten just because like I’m not the biggest fan of fruits but besides that it’s pretty good. If you guys are interested in any of these drinks or options. The açaí bowl costs $10.99, the Mocha De Mexico costs $6.59 for a regular, Conscious Chocolate costs $8.49, the Better Breakfast costs $9.99, and for regular size Banana Pudding, the best drink ever costs $6.79.
BRITO: The price difference between a regular and a large is a $1.
DIAZ: Yeah.
BRITO: So, overall, what would guys rate our experience at Better Buzz bee.
DIAZ: I would give it like, lowkey, like an eight.
CABRERA: Like, not hater-wise, but like based off what we got, it’s kinda plain, guys. I’d give it a seven out of ten in my experience.
BRITO: I’d give it an eight, the guy that was at the register was really nice.
CABRERA: I see.
DIAZ: He was very funny too.
CABRERA: He was very funny.
DIAZ: Great customer service.
BRITO: Loved it.
CABRERA: Customer service ten out of ten.
DIAZ: The customer service was a ten out of ten.
CABRERA: Now the drinks!
BRITO: Ohh the drinks.
CABRERA: That’s a little different.
DIAZ: Drinks wise, uhh.
CABRERA: Maybe it’s like what we got but yeah.
BRITO: Maybe it’s marinated, let’s try it out.
CABRERA: I think out of everything we got I liked most is the Banana Pudding drink.
DIAZ: I think I liked the Better Breakfast.
BRITO: I think it tastes a little better now.
CABRERA: And what did you like the most?
BRITO: I like most my, my OG Açaí and my Banana Pudding.
DIAZ: Yeah, it tastes sweeter now.
BRITO: I like it right now.
DIAZ: Once you let it marinate the banana, yeah no the banana one?
BRITO: The Banana Pudding.
CABRERA: Do you guys want to try like the cookie in it?
BRITO: But how are we gonna get it out?
DIAZ: With your spoon.
BRITO: With my spoon?!
DIAZ: I was joking.
CABRERA: I guess.
DIAZ: Get it with the straw.
CABRERA: I was actually gonna get her spoon but I guess we’re not gonna sacrifice your spoon.
BRITO: Are we gonna take a bite each?
DIAZ: What is it?
BRITO: It looks like a little pancake.
CABRERA: Yeah it’s just like uh.
BRITO: That’s what it reminds me of.
DIAZ: It tastes like synonym, cinnamon? Cinna? Cinna?
CABRERA: Cinnamon.
BRITO: It tastes good.
CABRERA: Yeah, the cookies really good in it.
DIAZ: It tastes like cinnamon? Cinnamon? Cinnamon?
CABRERA: Cinnamon.
DIAZ: Cinnamon.
CABRERA: Yeah.
DIAZ: It tastes like cinna? Cinna? Oh my god. It tastes like that thing.
BRITO: The cookies really good that’s on the synonym. Oh my god. My Banana Pudding drink.
DIAZ: Overall, from the drinks I really liked the banana one.
BRITO: Wait, actually maybe they marinated, check them.
CABRERA: Well hm, if we were like to rank everything we got guys. What would be on the bottom?
DIAZ: The Chocolate Conscious I didn’t really like that one.
BRITO: Yeah Conscious Chocolate.
CABRERA: The Conscious Chocolate. Yeah I think that would be on the bottom, it didn’t have the most flavor. It was very plain.
DIAZ: Yeah, no it just tasted like milk to me.
BRITO: It has a bunch of nuts.
DIAZ: Yeah I don’t really like milk so like maybe that’s why I’m being a hater about it, but like yeah.
CABRERA: Yeah, you can like really taste the oat milk it has. I think that’s why it tastes so much but like for a drink called like Conscious Chocolate and have the word chocolate but not taste like chocolate guys. That was really disappointing.
DIAZ: You can really taste the nuts in it though.
CABRERA: The second thing on the bottom would be.
BRITO: Um.
DIAZ: I don’t know, uh, I think out of everything I just didn’t like that one. Everything else was good.
CABRERA: Yeah.
BRITO: I think like the Mocha de Mexico just cause of the weather, right now.
DIAZ: Lowkey.
CABRERA: Yeah, and then third.
DIAZ: Better Breakfast?
CABRERA: Yeah.
BRITO: Even though you didn’t like it?
CABRERA: I didn’t like it!
DIAZ: I thought it was pretty good.
CABRERA: But like for the people who did like it.
BRITO: Karol walked away.
CABRERA: Alright now!
DIAZ: Momentarily had to step out.
CABRERA: Alright now guys, anyways.
BRITO: And then, I’d say the açaí bowl.
CABRERA: And then, first would be the best.
DIAZ: Banana Pudding.
BRITO: Banana Pudding.
DIAZ: Banana Pudding best drink ever.
BRITO: We were about to not get it but we saw those like great advertisements.
CABRERA: Alright guys. That’s all, Wizards, thank you for joining us on our podcast. See you guys next time!
