ALL: Hey, wizards
GISSELLE RODRIGUEZ: I’m Gisselle,
MELANIE PRADO: I’m Melanie
ALEEMAH WALLI: And I’m Aleemah.
RODRIGUEZ: And today, we’ll be discussing fun and popular Easter traditions while making Eastern themed tradition treats. Let’s go. Okay, for the Rice Krispies treats, we’ll be using butter, vanilla extract,
PRADO: Marshmallows,
WALLI: Rice crispy cereal, and then the chocolate eggs.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay, now I’m gonna start browning the butter.
PRADO: While she’s doing that, we’re gonna start talking about some popular Easter traditions. Dying eggs is a popular Easter tradition. Eggs are symbolic for a new life or resurrection, and they can also have deep religious connection.
WALLI: Additionally, Easter egg hunts. So some say this dates back to the 16th century in Germany.
PRADO: Another fun fact is that no one is entirely sure why the holiday was named Easter. There’s a few theories, but there’s nothing really that’s for sure.
WALLI: Another popular Easter snack is peeps. So we associate peeps with Easter because that is when they’re most heavily marketed, but they’re a year round candy. So now that the butter is browned, we’re gonna start adding our marshmallows.
RODRIGUEZ: So a famous Easter food is Easter bread. It’s a sweet braided loaf, and they’re cherished Easter editions in many countries.
PRADO: We’re gonna add another full cup. Well, might as well add the whole bag at this point. Once it starts looking like this, then you can add your rice crispy cereal. In Spain, it is also a tradition to eat sugar coated donuts. They are known as Rosquillas de Semana Santa.
RODRIGUEZ: Okay, our Rice Krispies are done, so now we’re gonna start putting them into the pan. Okay, so we shaped it all, and now we’re putting the Easter eggs. Okay, so this is all done, so we’re gonna let it set and then cut it after. So a popular Easter tradition is giving Easter baskets. Basically, you make a basket for someone like a family member or a friend, and you fill up with candy or stuff that you think they might like.
WALLI: Now that it has cooled, we’re gonna start cutting it. Another popular Easter tradition is visiting the Easter Bunny, or the Easter Bunny visiting you. So maybe you’re gonna go visit the Easter Bunny at the mall or something like that, like how they do the Santa thing, or the bunny visiting you, where your parent or your cousin dresses up as the Easter Bunny, and then they bring you candy. The next Easter popular food that we’re going to be talking about is roast a leg of lamb.
RODRIGUEZ: A leg of lamb is eaten in many British and French households.
WALLI: It’s tender and flavorful. It’s coated in the garlicky, dijon rub ; featuring fresh rosemary, parsley and capers.
PRADO: These are our final results.
ALL: Thank you for watching, bye!
